We describe a model for evaluating the performance of deconvolution from wavefront sensing systems, including a realistic simulation of the wavefront sensor measurements under high and low photon fluxes. This model is applied to analyze the behavior of different deconvolution filters for both pointlike and extended objects, whose images are degraded by Kolmogorov turbulence. In the situations considered, the results show a performance substantially similar to that of the modified Wiener and regression filters, and is superior in both cases to that of the classical Wiener filter.
