Abstract
We propose an indoor positioning system with visible light communication (VLC) technology, which employs a dimensionality reduction (DR) algorithm based on the received signal intensity, to eliminate the dead zone of positioning. Simulations are conducted for five altitude levels with dimensions of 5  m  ×  5  m  ×  4  m to verify the performance of the proposed DR algorithm. The result shows that subcentimeter accuracy in positioning can be obtained at five levels in three-dimensional space and that there exists no dead zone. Good robustness against the signal-to-noise ratio, space size, and transmission power is also verified via extensive tests.
