1 July 2003 Automatic instrument for the spectral characterization of charge-coupled-device based scientific cameras

We describe a compact automatic device designed to characterize scientific cameras based on photon-limited CCD sensors, by measuring the gain, the linearity, and the quantum efficiency as a function of the wavelength in the visible region and in the near IR. The device is completely automated and requires only a few simple survey controls because it is designed to be operated by unqualified users.
