Abstract
A new fixed-valued impulsive noise removal filter, entitled modified two-step iterative-median filter (MIMF), is proposed in this paper. The MIMF offers to use a statistical method in order to analyze the impulsive behavior of pixels. The experimental results show that the MIMF achieves superior restoration performance compared to the other filters mentioned in this paper with regard to noise suppression and detail preservation, especially when the noise density is very high.
