1 April 1994Experimental verification of a star field identification algorithm
A six-feature all-sky star field identification algorithm has been developed, integrated with a CCD-based imaging camera, and tested at the Table Mountain Observatory, California. Calibration of the CCD-based camera to minimize the error in the measured star parameters due to instrument error and experimental conditions is discussed. A set of observatory tests on star fields with this intelligent camera is described.
