Several of my colleagues and friends often commented on the lack of a compact, comprehensive, and contemporary reference text in photonics. What they were looking for was Applied Photonics by Chai Yeh. In 14 chapters the author presents the most important aspects of photonics in a truly cogent fashion and sets the record straight for numerous misconceptions.
