We describe a method for improving the images reconstructed from three-dimensional computer-generated holograms. This method utilizes iterative operations of the Fourier and inverse Fourier transforms, and the holograms are created with equally distributed complex amplitudes of the object consisting of several cross sections. From numerical experiments, we have obtained the improved images in all reconstruction planes with a few iterations. The reconstructed images were enhanced rapidly with an increase in iterative operations, but the image improvement approached a constant value after a certain point and this was also confirmed numerically from the mean-square-error of the images.
