Results of the experimental investigation of the nonlinear absorption of microsecond and nanosecond laser pulses in the hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) are reported. Optical transmission due to photoinduced absorption was recorded. After the end of laser excitation, complete relaxation of the light induced darkening was observed. It is suggested that the interband nonlinear light absorption could be explained by taking into account the light interaction with nonequilibrium phonons.
