Wavefront reconstruction from its intensity distribution in the focal plane has been studied as an inverse source problem in optics.1 Since the intensity distribution in the focal plane is related to the squared modulus of the Fourier transform of a wavefront, this problem is equivalent to reconstructing a wavefront from the modulus of its Fourier transform.
