Abstract
The properties of a paraboloid made of dielectric material and truncated from the focal plane are studied. In addition, the focusing of light emitted by astigmatic diode lasers with a truncated paraboloid is discussed. Finally, ray-tracing calculations are presented for a high-numerical-aperture truncated paraboloid used for focusing light emitted by a large number of diode lasers in an axially symmetric structure.
