Abstract
We propose an optical parametric amplifier model based on highly nonlinear fiber with a single pump, and the impacting factors on the bandwidth and maximum value of the optical parametric gain are investigated. The analytic solutions indicate that by properly adjusting the structure of the optical parametric gain, ~400-nm bandwidth of the signal gain can be obtained, with its maximum value 55 dB. The optimal parameters designed for better performance of signal gain in the presence of dispersion fluctuations are also demonstrated in single-pump fiber-optic parametric amplifier (FOPA) architecture.
