Profile Summary

I am a third-year Ph.D. candidate in Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, supported by a Fulbright scholarship. I have been researching renewable energies for more than eight years, including high and low concentrating photovoltaics and wind turbines inspired by humpback whales. My research interests range in the intersections between renewable energies, artificial intelligence, design, biomimicry, and behavioral economics. I am currently exploring the potential of implementing Swarm Intelligence in autonomously self-adapting populations of solar devices. I am also analyzing how societies react to technological paradigms that pose potential existential risks. Additionally, I am developing a tool based on artificial intelligence methods for assisting shape exploration in the early design stages.

I graduated first in class with the highest honors from a B.A. in Product Design Engineering and an M.Sc. in Engineering at Universidad EAFIT, Colombia. During my undergraduate studies, I developed a concentrating photovoltaic system for Primavera, the first Colombian solar vehicle, which was awarded at a national level and traversed close to 3,000 km of Australian deserts.
