Profile Summary

Alberto Parini was born in Milan (ITALY) in 1977. He received his master degree in Electrical Engineering (2001) and his PhD degree in Applied Optics (2006) from the University of Ferrara (ITALY).
From 2006 to 2009 he was post-doctoral fellow with the "TELECOM SUD-PARIS school of engineering" (Paris, France) in the framework of a French-national research project on photonic crystal devices for high-speed all-optical signal processing. In this context, he was in charge of the numerical design and experimental characterization activities.
From 2010 to 2014 he held the role of optical researcher within the "Laboratory of Micro and Sub-Micro Enabling Technologies of the Emilia-Romagna Region" (Bologna, North-eastern Italy) where he worked mainly on the numerical design of Lithium-Niobate based structures for sensing/detection applications.
From 2015 to 2017 he held the position of Research Engineer with the CNRS-FOTON Laboratory (Brittany, France) in the context of a research project aimed at developing new hybrid electronics/photonics microprocessor architectures (Project 3D OpticalManyCores - 3D Many-Core Architectures based on Optical Networks on Chip).
He is currently senior optical researcher within "PROMETHEUS Ltd.", an Italian start-up company developing and producing photonic integrated components based on electro-optics materials for telecom and sensing/detection applications.
Beside integrated photonics, other research areas of interest for Alberto Parini are: non-linear optics, antenna design, high performance computing and numerical modelling.
