Dr. Bostater is in the College of Engineering at Florida Institute of Technology and is the Director of the Marine & Environmental Optics & Remote Sensing Lab and the University's Remote Sensing Center. As an Associate Professor in the University he teaches the Physics of Oceans & Atmospheres; Remote Sensing; GIS. Dr. Bostater is an expert in Airborne Hyperspectral Imaging and Data Fusion of these data types with photogrammetric engineering imagery.

Dr. Bostater also has pioneered the use of Monte Carlo and Analytical Radiative Transfer Models for use in water surface and subsurface target detection.

He also is involved with remote sensing of vegetation stress detection and remote sensing for water quality applications in freshwater, coastal and nearby coastal ocean habitats.

He is the named inventor on several international patents for noncontact remote sensing probes.
