Profile Summary

Dr. Chengbin Jing has over fifteen years of research experience in the area of optical materials and hollow optical fibers. Since 1998, he has worked on fabrication, characterization, and applications of attenuated total reflection (ATR) of hollow fibers as well as leak type of metal/dielectric hollow fibers. He developed some solution-based methods (i.e. sol-gel, liquid phase deposition) to build up thick reflective films for hollow waveguide delivery of CO2 laser radiation. Recently, ATR germanium dioxide hollow fibers have been successfully prepareded based on silica glassy or metallic structural tubes via room-temperature liquid phase deposition method. His current research interests include the development of hollow fibers for use in the delivery of laser power in surgical applications and for use in the transmission of Terahertz Radiation.
Dr. Jing is currently a Professor at East China Normal University (ECNU). In 2015, he worked with Prof. Harrington at Rutgers University as a visiting scholar. He obtained his master (2001) and doctoral (2004) degrees at the State Key Lab of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing, Wuhan University of Technology, China. In 2008-2011, he did postdoctoral research work at the National Lab for Infrared Physics, Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
