Eric Honea received his PhD in Physics from UCLA in 1990. After working as a postdoctoral researcher at AT&T Bell Laboratories, he joined the Laser Program at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). At LLNL he worked on diode pumped solid state lasers and associated technologies, followed by work on semiconductor lasers at Novalux and then nLight Photonics. In 2002 he joined Aculight, now Lockheed Martin Aculight, developing high peak power and high average power fiber lasers and beam combining systems for advanced applications. He is currently the Chief Architect for High Power Lasers at Lockheed Martin Laser and Sensor Systems. Dr. Honea has over 80 publications and conference presentations and 27 issued patents, serving on the Photonics West Fiber Laser conference committee since 2010 and editing Proceedings of SPIE, Volumes 7914 and 8237.
