Profile Summary

As Director of Technology for Radiological and Nuclear (Rad/Nuc) Detection, I am responsible for leading and expanding the development of radiological and nuclear detection technology and products for Smiths Detection. My duties also include defining and advancing Smiths Detection’s technology and product roadmaps as Rad/Nuc Product Capabilities Manager. I led the development of the RadSeeker handheld radionuclide identifier under Smiths Detection’s Human Portable Radiation Detection Systems (HPRDS) contract with the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO). I have extensive experience in technical program management, business development, system integration, and computer and communications system engineering. Over the course of my career, I have led several multi-million dollar programs to deliver security screening, command and control, and communications capabilities to DHS and DoD. Products that I have developed include: handheld isotope identifiers, explosive trace detection portals, next-generation satellite and terrestrial data communications systems, and advanced theater air defense command and control systems.

I hold a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park and a M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University.
