After the Physics Graduation at the Rio de Janeiro State University, he obtained the MSc. in Electronics Engineering and Computer at the Aeronautical Institute of Technology and the Space Science Doctoral degree from the National Space Research Institute in 1994. He has been involved with applied electromagnetism toward microwaves and optoelectronics R&D for antennas, material characterization, optical fibers sensorsand advanced instrumentation for laser ultrasound.
