Profile Summary

Dr Henk Marquering obtained a MSc degree in geophysics from the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands, in 1991. From the same university he obtained a PhD degree after a theoretical seismology study on the coupling of surface wave modes for describing propagation of body waves in lateral heterogeneous media.
A postdoc was performed in Princeton University, NJ, USA where he continued working on the 3D wave form kernels, which has resulted in the infamous Banana Doughnut kernels.

In 1998 he returned to the Netherlands where he started working on Document Analysis for the large industrial company Oce (now Canon). In 2001 he returned to academia when he started working on Medical Image Analysis for the Leids University Medical Center. After a 2-period stay at the small industrial company 3mensio, he now works at the Academicl Medical Center, University of Amsterdam, where he fulfils the position of assistant professor on Cardiovascular Imaging and Image Analysis, with a strong focus on Neurovascular image analysis.
