To solve the problem of optical path creation in multi-granularity optical network, a multi-granular hierarchy label is proposed in this paper. A parallel signaling scheme using hierarchy label is discussed in detail. Simulation result shows that the new proposal has a better time performance than traditional hierarchy LSP signaling scheme.
Survivability is a new and important research area for multi-granularity optical network. In this paper, dedicated path-based protection scheme and three kinds of shared path-based protection schemes in dynamic waveband switching optical network are proposed based on the work in literature . In different shared protection schemes, different network resources, such as waveband tunnels and wavelength tunnels, are shared. Furthermore some numerical simulations of the protection algorithms are done and the results are analyzed. This work is instructive for the research of survivability schemes in multi-granularity switching optical network.
Multi-granularity switching is an attractive technology, which can not only save the network cost but also realize traffic grooming. There are many different sizes tunnels available in multi-granularity optical network, so resource assignment becomes very important for lightpath establishment. In this paper, we focus on the research in waveband switching (WBS) network. Firstly the node structure and multi-granularity connections are analyzed, and the term of RRA (routing and resource assignment) is proposed to state the problem of lightpath establishment. And a kind of resource assignment policy for RRA is proposed according to the tunnel granularity. As a part of resource assignment in WBS network, the problem of waveband paths assignment is discussed and several new dynamic algorithms are proposed. They are SBP (shortest waveband path), FBP (first-fit waveband path), LBP (longest waveband path) and LBC (longest waveband combination) algorithms. In our numerical simulations, some factors that impact the performance of network are analyzed, such as waveband assignment algorithm, switching ratios and waveband partition. And also some useful conclusions are drawn, which are instructive for the design and implementation of multi-granularity network.
Based on the P-cycles method and Hamiltonian cycle protection method, we propose a new resource-based cycle protection method for mesh WDM optical network, which is called RP-cycles method. And a heuristic algorithm of RP-cycles method is given. The method has many advantages such as simple configuration, independent of traffic model and having physical length limitation of cycles. Network simulations show that RP-cycles method has high capacity efficiency and short recovery time. So it is a new kind of practical optical network protection method for link fault.
This paper studies design and provision problem of OVPN over ASON. Some special issues are dedicated, including address translation, access authentication, OVPN membership management. UNI framework which supports OVPN over ASON is presented. And procedures of OVPN operation are designed.
The emergence of intelligent optical network (ION) not only introduces the function of intelligent connection control, but also makes some new-style optical layer services possible. There are many kinds of survivability schemes applied in ION with mesh topology. According to the recovery degree of traffic, differentiated resilience service (DRS) can provide an appropriate survivability scheme from them. In this paper, a differentiated resilience service scheme in intelligent optical network is proposed. We firstly discuss some relative problems of DRS, and then define some DRS degrees in terms of recovery time for traffics. At last, the DRS protection/restoration modules of control plane in ION are designed and analyzed. Thus a DRS implementation method in ION is formed.
