Profile Summary

Dr. Jose A. Alvarez-Chavez.

Senior Research Fellow at CIITEC-IPN in Mexico City: www.ciitec.ipn.mx

Senior Research Fellow at CIITEC-IPN. His work focuses on both theoretical and experimental work on high-power, rare earth-doped fiber lasers and amplifiers for Medicine, LIDAR, and Industry applications. He was member of the re-nowned team that developed the ground-breaking 1kWatt Ytterbium fiber lasers in 2003. CW, Q-switched, and Mode-Locked fibre sources with applications in Opto-accupuncture, Laser Cold Spray, Super-luminiscent sources and Structural Health Monitoring. In the Telecomm field, working in the advancement of DWDM Er/Yb laser devices for up to 100Gbits/sec for the future Internet requirements. In non-linear laser phenomena, currently taking thermal limits to the next level for ultra-high-intensity optical fibre lasers.
