Profile Summary

Junwen Zhang received his Ph.D. degree in optical communication from Fudan University, Shanghai, China in 2014.
During 2012 and 2014, he was a visiting student in Georgia Institute of Technology working on 100G/400G/1T high speed transmission system. In 2015, he joined Georgia Tech as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow in the NSF-sponsored Research Center of Fiber-wireless Integration and Networking (FiWIN), focusing on high-speed optical-wireless integration access network. Dr. Zhang joined ZTE TX in 2016 as a Senior Research Engineer, working on high-speed optical access network for fixed and mobile services. He is currently working at CableLabs as a Lead Architect in the Core Innovation Team of Optical Center of Excellence, mainly focusing on fiber and wireless technology innovations for next generation cable and fiber access networks.
Dr. Zhang has published more than 190 papers on high-speed optical transmission, access and signal processing. He has co-authored 18 US patent applications. He is the recipients of the Marconi Society Paul Baran Young Scholar Award in 2016, the IEEE Photonics Society Graduate Student Fellowship, and the Wang Daheng Optics Award in 2013. He currently serves as a member of the OFC2019 Optical Access Networks Technical Program Subcommittee, and the commitee of Boardband Access Network of SPIE Photonics West 2018 and 2019.
