Profile Summary

Justine Haupt is a developer of astronomy instrumentation at Brookhaven National Laboratory. She was a primarily contributor to the sensor development effort for the Vera Rubin Telescope / the Legacy Survey of Space and Time, for which she designed many of the electro-optical test stands. She is currently working on the Baryon Mapping Experiment (a 4-dish 21cm cosmology demonstrator telescope) and is involved with the PUMA large-scale 21cm experiment proposal. She's PI of a technology maturation program for an invention relating to the LSST, and her competencies span optical, mechanical, and RF engineering.

She sits on the board of directors of the Custer Observatory in Southold, NY where she serves as the radio astronomy chair, and is actively engaged in astronomy and STEM outreach. She's also an aerotow pilot for the Long Island Soaring Association.

Justine was named the 2014 Rising Engineering Star by Mouser Electronics and Design News Magazine.
