Profile Summary

Min Gu is an elected fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, the Australian Institute of Physics, the Optical Society of America as well as the International Society for Optical Engineering and the Institute of Physics (UK). He is Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor and a distinguished professor at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.From 2003, he has also been a Node Director of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Ultrahigh-bandwidth Devices for Optical Systems.
He was a Laureate fellow of the Australian of the Australian Research Council, Pro Vice-Chancellor, the Director of Centre for Micro-Photonics and a University Distinguished Professor at Swinburne University of Technology.. He was a Dean of Science and Deputy Dean of the Faculty at Swinburne. He was a node leader of the Australian Cooperative Research Centre for Polymers
Professor Gu is a sole author of two standard reference books, Principles of Three-Dimensional Imaging in Confocal Microscopes (World Scientific) and Advanced Optical Imaging Theory (Springer-Verlag), published in 1996 and 2000 respectively.He is also the first author of the book published by Cambridge University Press (Femtosecond Biophotonics: Core Techniques and Applications, 2010). He is one of the world leading authorities in the field of nanophotonics, nanofabrication, biophotonics and multi-dimensional optical data storage. He is a member of the 16 Editorial Boards of top international journals. He was/is President (2002–2004) and Vice President (2004–2010) of the International Society of Optics within Life Sciences. He is Vice President of the International Commission for Optics (2005–2011). He was awarded the World Class University Professorship(Ministry for Education, Korea, 2009), the Thousand Talents Award (Ministry for Education, China, 2009), Einstein Professorship (Chinese Academy of Science, 2010).
