In this paper, we present a novel ICA domain multimodal image fusion algorithm. Conventional eigenbased
algorithm was improved through weighting the transformed regions of input images and the use of a fusion
metric to maximise the quality of the fused image. It is confirmed by experimental results that the proposed
methods outperform the basic eigenbased methods and, in most cases, our own prior work on the DT-CWT
method. For all the standard image fusion metrics, the proposed method obtains higher quality values than the
standard eigenbased algorithms.
