Profile Summary

Roxana Mariana Beiu is an Adjunct Professor and also a post doc researcher with the 3OM Optomechatronics Group at Aurel Vlaicu Univ. of Arad. She graduated from the Polytechnics Univ. of Bucharest (UPB) in 1994, with Fine Mechanics as her major. She worked in 1995-2001 as a research engineer with the Institute of Advanced Technologies, Bucharest, in Fine Mechanics and Optics, designing various optical devices. In 2001, she transferred as a PhD candidate with the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Washington State Univ., USA (2002-2005), where she was involved in teaching Mechanics of Materials and worked on neuroscience as a Research Assistant, developing new non-invasive brain measurement techniques. Roxana Beiu defended her PhD thesis, “On Theoretical and Experimental Developments of a Novel Class of Sensors for Assessing Mechanical Deformations,” back to her alma mater UPB in 2007, and got magna cum laude. Her main research interests are in optomechatronics, optical systems, sensors, and photonics.
