Profile Summary

My main research interest is related to Optical design. I have experience in working with the Remote sensing and Photogrammetry department at the Finnish Geodetic Institute in Finland. I was involved with the hyperspectral lidar development and application project in which I was dealing with the optimization of the optical component of lidar and performing data analysis with the help of lab view and virtual lab.
Throughout my graduate study, I was able to benefit from a variety of subjects and combinations in a flexible and modular program. Some of the most influential courses during my Master program were Optical construction, Quantum optics and Laser. These advanced courses provided me the technical basis for Optical design, Laser action, and Quantum optics. I also gained additional knowledge on a Ray tracing program in Zemax during the Optical Construction course. My master thesis was the simulation of optical systems with the help of Zemax and Matlab. I simulated a simple zoom lens with 4 lenses in Zemax. In addition, I designed an instrument to assess distances around an auto focus system, in which suitable amounts of astigmatism have been added. Finally, a laboratory exercise based on the simple zoom system was designed with the help of Matlab.
In addition to my Master studies, I had the great opportunity to be invited to participate in scientific school programs. In summer 2012, I was invited to attend the European Summer School about nanoscale at Strasbourg University in France and in collaboration with the European Union. Based on my study results, I received CIC scholarships for summer schools at Uppsala University in Sweden and Freie University in Berlin in August 2012. This summer school covered topics in a variety of research fields in physics with visits also to the university physics laboratories and other research facilities.
