Prof. S. A. Maksimenko, M.S. (1976), Ph.D. (1988), Dr. Sci. (1996). Head of the Laboratory of electrodynamics of nonhomogeneous media at the Institute for Nuclear Problems, Belarus State University (1992-2012), Director since 2013. Lecturer at the BSU physical department. From 1997 to 2000 he has been INP deputy director and, from 2000 to 2005, BSU deputy vice-rector. He has authored or coauthored more than 180 conf. and journal papers. He co-chaired conferences "Nanotubes and nanowires"(2003), "Nanomodelling" (2004) and "Nanomodelling II" (2006) as parts of SPIE's 48th and 49th Annual Meetings, and SPIE’s Optics & Photonics, respectively. Chair of the Int. Conf. "Fundamental and Applied Nanoeletromagnetics", Minsk 2012, co-director of the NATO Adwanced Research Workshop "Fundamental and Applied Nanoeletromagnetics", Minsk 2015. SPIE Fellow, Associate Editor of the Journal of Nanophotonics. Current research interests are electromagnetic processes in nanostructures and nanocomposites. Participates in a number of international research projects, coordinator of EU project FP7-226529 BY-NANOERA, leader of the INP team in the FP7 project "Graphene Flagship".
