Conference Chair | Conference Program Committee | Editor | Author
Profile Summary

Szymon Gładysz is head of the Adaptive Optics Group at Fraunhofer Institute of Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation in Ettlingen, Germany. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from the National University of Ireland in Galway in 2007. He has worked at European Southern Observatory in Garching (Germany), at Technion - Israel Institute of Technology and is currently leading the adaptive optics research at Fraunhofer IOSB, which focuses on horizontal-path propagation and strong turbulence. He has been awarded several awards and grants, e.g. from University of California, US Air Force Office of Scientific Research and from the Office of Naval Research Global. He authored or co-authored over 80 publications on turbulence and adaptive optics in journals and conference proceedings. Additionally, he represents Germany on NATO SET-226 research task group (“Turbulence mitigation for Electro Optics (EO) and laser systems”) and is conference chair and committee member on various OSA and SPIE conferences. In 2016/2017 he was serving as guest editor for the SPIE journal Optical Engineering and in 2017/2018 as guest editor for SPIE's Journal of Applied Remote Sensing.
