Profile Summary

Dr. Tony Ragucci is a recognized expert in embedded instrumentation, sensor fusion, and system design for EO/IR-based measurement and detection. He invented the Wide-Area InfraRed Imaging (WAIRI) system for Coast Guard search and rescue operations, now in phase III development for deployment across all USCG MH-60, H-65, and C-130 aircraft. Dr. Ragucci also invented the technique of hyperspectral polarimetry during a NASA contract for a payload to optically monitor film strain in NASA’s stratospheric science balloons. He has led several NRA, BAA, and SBIR Phase I, II, and III projects for the Navy, Air Force, Army, DHS, NIH, NASA, and NSF, including the SEIDOT phase III program to develop a handheld infrared spectrometer for chemical/biological hazard detection and the BioAdvise phase III program for rapid biological sample preparation, PCR amplification, and fluorescence detection. His prototypes for NASA JPL and JSC passed all acceptance criteria, including extended zero-g flight tests. The Pericept products BIMVP and BIMtrace were the first to include user-guided mobile device optical calibration and precise 2D-to-3D image mapping for accurate visual differencing.
