Profile Summary

Vincent M. Rossi received his Ph.D. in Physics from Oregon State University (OSU) in 2015. His Ph.D. research included work in Digital Fourier Holographic Microscopy, Optical Scatter Imaging, Light-Tissue Interactions, Monte Carlo simulations, Diffusion Theory, Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy and Photodynamic Therapy of osteosarcoma. Much of his research was carried out via the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Oregon Health & Science University, where he was a visiting graduate student and later a research assistant. His dissertation is titled Digital Fourier Holographic Microscopy and Potential Applications Towards the Design of Photodynamic Therapy of Osteosarcoma.

Vince received the Department of Physics Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award for the 2006-07 academic year while at OSU. Vince taught Physics and Astronomy throughout graduate school. He has held positions as an adjunct Instructor at Linn-Benton Community College and Portland Community College, Instructor and STEM Program Coordinator at Kimball Union Academy, Visiting Assistant Professor at Pacific University and Visiting Instructor at Texas A&M University.

Vince also worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow for the Center for Imaging Medicine through the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College. His research there involved Multi-Spectral Imaging as applied towards Fluorescence Microscopy of breast cancer models. Prior to coming to Utah Valley University, Vince was an Assistant Professor of Physics & Astronomy at Washburn University, where he built his biophotonics laboratory focusing on digital holographic microscopy and quantitative phase imaging.

In 2023, Vince moved his biophotonics lab to Utah Valley University, where he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics. Vince places an emphasis on teaching and incorporating undergraduate research into his biophotonics laboratory.
