My research interests were focused on technology of conventional optical fibers for communication systems and special fibers for sensors, development of fiber optic laser equipment for medical and technical applications. My current research interests include design, fabrication, characterization and investigation of special conventional silica and polymer optical fibers (including photonic crystal fibers) for medical, fiber laser and sensor applications. I am an author of a book and a chapter of a book on special photonic crystal fibers, a coauthor of 66 articles published in international scientific journals, +32 articles published in Proceedings of conferences (Proc. of SPIE, OSA and other conferences), my research works have been cited in more than 1500 scientific publications (Google Academic, h-index=17). I participated in 65 international or national conferences as a reporter and I have 14 international or national patents.
