We proposed a novel intrusion detection system in mobile ad hoc networks using the social network analysis approach,
which is different from the conventional ones. Our social based IDS utilizes explored social relations for anomaly detections,
which can capture and represent similar network statistics as those used in data mining based intrusion detection
systems. Simulation results show that this social based IDS can effectively detect attacks with high detection rates and
low false alarm rates. Further more, our system is of simpler implementation and lower system complexity than rule based
anomaly IDS.
