Young Min Song received a M.S. and Ph.D in Information and Communications from the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) in 2006 and 2011, respectively, after a B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Yonsei University in 2004. From 2011 to 2013, he was a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He is currently a professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the GIST. Prior to joining the GIST faculty, Dr. Song was an assistant professor of Electronics Engineering at Pusan National University (2013-2016), Korea. He is a senior member of the Optical Society (OSA), a member of the IEEE Photonics Society, the international society for optics and photonics (SPIE), and the Materials Research Society (MRS).
Professor Song’s research interests include advanced optoelectronic sensors/systems, multifunctional nanophotonics, and optical healthcare systems. He has published 130 peer-reviewed research articles including Nature, Science, and Nature Electronics. His Google Scholar profile acknowledges over 6000 citations and an h-index of 32. He is serving as an editorial board member for IEEE Photonics Journal (IEEE), Electronics (MDPI), Micromachines (MDPI), and IJPEM (Springer). He also served multiple times as a referee in scientific journals including Science, Nat. Electron, Nat. Comm., Light Sci. & App., Adv. Mater., Nano Lett., Opt. Express, Opt. Lett., etc.
