Profile Summary

Mr. Zhaokai Meng is a Ph.D. candidate in Biomedical Engineering, Texas A&M University. Mr. Meng is currently working as a research assistant in Advanced Spectroscopy Lab directed by Prof. Vladislav V. Yakovlev. He is specialized in nonlinear optics microspectroscopy and the corresponding applications in biomedical sciences and engineering. His research interests include microscopic imaging for molecular, cellular and tissue structures, and extending these techniques into clinical researches. During the past two years, Mr. Meng has successfully developed continuous-wave stimulated Raman microspectroscopy, time-gated photon-counting Raman spectroscopy and background-free spontaneous Brillouin microspectroscopy. These techniques were applied on imaging biological systems for the first time.

Mr. Meng’s future career objectives are orientated towards applying his multidisciplinary knowledge into translational research. Specifically, based on the solid background knowledge in physics and optical spectroscopy, he plans to contribute in novel diagnosis and therapy solutions, and develop clinical medical devices for both prevention and treatment.
