Profile Summary

Liangcai Cao received his BS/MS and PhD degree from Harbin Institute of Technology and Tsinghua University, in 1999/2001 and 2005, respectively. Then he became an assistant professor at Department of Precision Instruments, Tsinghua University. He is now a Tenured Associate Professor at Tsinghua University and the director of Institute of Opto-Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University. He was a visiting scholar at UC Santa Cruz and MIT in 2009 and 2014, respectively. His current research interests are information storage, processing and display based on volume holography. He has about 90 peer-reviewed journal papers published and holds about 20 patents. He has been awarded Santander Scholarship by Santander Bank, New Century Excellent Talents by Ministry of Education of China, Outstanding Research Awards and Outstanding Teaching Awards for Young Faculty by Tsinghua University. He serves as the editors of feature issue of JOSA-B and special issue of Optics Communications. He is a senior member of OSA and SPIE.
