Profile Summary

Tayfun Aytaç received the B.S. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Gazi University, Ankara in 2000 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and electronics engineering from Bilkent University, Ankara in 2002 and 2006, respectively.

During his graduate studies, he was a research assistant in Robotics and Sensing Research Laboratory and a teaching assistant in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bilkent University. Between 2005-2006, he worked as a senior systems engineer in Havelsan Inc., Simulation Systems Division. He joined TUBITAK BILGEM ILTAREN (Advanced Technologies Research Institute) in 2006, where he is currently a chief research scientist.

He served as a part-time instructor of the "Signals and Systems" course in Gazi University, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in Fall term, 2010 and has been serving as a part-time instructor of "Basics of Signals and Systems" course in Bilkent University, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering since Spring term 2015.

His research interests include infrared and optical sensing, electronic warfare in infrared band, image processing, target detection and tracking, computer vision, pattern recognition, compressive sensing applications in infrared band, simulation and modeling of infrared and electro-optical systems, multi-sensor fusion, and hardware/man in the loop systems.
