Tayfun Aytaç received the B.S. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Gazi University, Ankara in 2000 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and electronics engineering from Bilkent University, Ankara in 2002 and 2006, respectively.

During his graduate studies, he was a research assistant in Robotics and Sensing Research Laboratory and a teaching assistant in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bilkent University. Between 2005-2006, he worked as a senior systems engineer in Havelsan Inc., Simulation Systems Division. He joined TUBITAK BILGEM ILTAREN (Advanced Technologies Research Institute) in 2006, where he worked as a researcher, systems engineer, project team leader, project manager, and department head in electronic warfare projects until February 2019. Between May 2019- August 2021, he worked as a senior lead systems engineer in ASELSAN INC, Electronic Warfare Systems System Engineering Directorate. He has been working as a Deputy Director in TUBITAK BILGEM ILTAREN since August 2021.

He served as a part-time instructor of the “Signals and Systems” course in Gazi University, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in Fall term, 2010, as a part-time instructor of “Basics of Signals and Systems” course in Bilkent University, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in Spring term 2014-2015 and Fall term 2015-2016, and as a part-time instructor of “Electro Optical and Infrared Electronic Warfare Systems and Techniques” graduate course in National Defense University, Alparslan Defense Sciences Institute in Spring term 2019.

He co-authored 15 refereed journal papers and about 35 refereed conference papers on target detection,
tracking, and classification using infrared sensors.
