Abstract
Obesity is excessive body fat accumulation that causes a lot of comorbidities such as diabetes, liver disease, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. The ketogenic diet is drawing attention as a potential therapeutic for obesity. To treat obesity. Some strength of KD is proposed like short-term weight loss, glycemic control improvement, cardiovascular risk reduction, longevity increment, and disruption of pancreatic cancer growth. However, critiques are raised based on unknown long-term effects, insulin resistance, fiber shortage, and bone health impairment. In this review, recent research is introduced to describe the key debating point about these critiques. Also, future research should focus on potential improvements towards those disadvantages.
