Abstract
The intrinsic high frequency limit for superconducting mixers is set by the energy gap, which scalesroughly as Tc. The arrival of High Tc materials brings the possibility of raising this limit by a substantialfactor, perhaps to over 30 THz. This paper describes ongoing experiments with Josephson junctionsmade from YBCO on bicrystal substrates of SrTiO3 and NdGa03, exploring their high frequencyresponse and their performance as high harmonic mixers.
