1 May 2006 Strain dependence of fiber Bragg grating sensors at low temperature

Abstract
The strain and temperature response of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors has been measured from 123 to 317 K. The wavelength shift of FBGs is found to be linear with applied tensile strain at a constant temperature. On the other hand, their strain sensitivity is found to increase linearly with decreasing temperature. The nonlinear temperature dependence of FBG sensors is confirmed.
