While my expertise is ideal for collaborations on a variety of materials, I mainly focus on magnetic/magnetoelectric thin films and NASA-made superconducting devices. I do many x-ray absorption spectroscopy measurements. Some examples include the first work on uncompensated spin at magnetoelectric interfaces, interfacial coupling of multiferroic or magnetoelectric layers, nondestructive depth-dependent valence measurements, and dopant placement in topological insulators and superconducting devices. While most of our work is characterization, we do grow a select number of high-quality perovskite oxides, particularly Mn based systems by laser MBE (RHEED-enhanced PLD). We also do a little ultrafast optics, currently pump-probe transient reflectivity and second harmonic generation.
